Abstract

After a historical overview on the reasons which make it difficult for Italian people to share the group dimension, the paper presents a synthesis of Wilfred Bion’s model of the analytic group and also the experience of the Italian colleagues who tried to apply this model to public health institutions. Later, a “Clinical case” of institutional impasse will be commented and an ideal model for open institutions in mental health field will be presented.
